The U.S is prepared to deny people citizenship for marijuana offenses

The United States is taking its task to prevent marijuana use to a whole new level. According to reports — ICE has confirmed that people waiting for citizenship and such will be rejected if found to have committed marijuana related offenses.

Buzzfeed News reports that a statement from ICE has been released, uh, citing the Immigration and Nationality Act.

“Marijuana remains illegal under federal law as a Schedule I controlled substance regardless of any actions to decriminalize its possession, use, or sale at the state and local level,” Collins said. “Federal law does not recognize the decriminalization of marijuana for any purpose, even in places where state or local law does.”
