Report: You probably shouldn’t get a Vampire Facial

HIV1

Despite those really odd recommendations from beauty sites and vloggers, a new report suggests people don’t actually get a Vampire  Facial.   According to B Scott, two people have contracted HIV after apparently getting a Vampire Facial.   The site notes that the two people visited a spa-like facility in New Mexico.

This case apparently stems from last year, when, two people emerged from the spa with claims with serious negligence.

via NYDN:

The New Mexico Department of Health announced two cases of HIV following injection-related procedures at VIP Spa in Albuquerque Monday. The two positive tests increased the likelihood that the HIV infections resulted from the procedure.

People who received any kind of injection at the spa, including a “Vampire Facial” — a procedure where blood is drawn from a client and using a machine, separated into platelets that are then applied to the face, which has been punctured using micro-needles — between May and September 2018, can be tested for free.

VIP spa closed Sept. 7, 2018, after it was discovered there was potential risks for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections from the spa’s practices during an inspection by the NMDOH and the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, Barbers and Cosmetologists Board.
