Despite dozens of reports indicating that Empire actor Jussie Smollett would meet with police today, it appears that such isn’t actually happening. According to our American sister site Popglitz.com,  Smollett’s attorneys confirmed that he would not be making the meeting after all.

The meeting was widely expected after numerous reports (and apparent testimony from his two buddies) appeared to indicate that he paid upwards of $3,500 for the attack to happen. Smollett’s attorneys have viciously denied the allegations, and now, his case is headed to a grand jury for probable prosecution.

“There are no plans for Jussie Smollett to meet with Chicago police today. Any news reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate,” an e-mailed statement from public relations consultant Anne Kavanagh reads. “Smollett’s attorneys will keep an active dialogue going with Chicago police on his behalf. We have no further comment today.”
