SCOTUS is preparing to potentially legalize public-carrying of guns

And that is probably the most terrifying idea for America, considering, America has a shocking gun problem of its own (often by its own citizens). According to Slate, the Supreme Court is set to reportedly hear a case involving New York City’s ban on guns outside of the home. A ban that has been in place for about as long as we can remember.

The court has reportedly agreed to hear the case involving New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. New York as of Tuesday.

The case seeks to directly lift the ban on public-carrying in states that currently have them, the most prominent, being New York City. The case alleges that residents of New York City have “long argued for the constitutional right to carry their guns in public”.

New York City’s law, for example, once did allow people to carry their guns to certain places and to shooting ranges — among other things. In fact, it was so bad at one point, people thought they were slick trying to lie to authorities when caught with their firearms in public.

Slate additionally notes that cities that have open-carry laws, have, seen shocking rises in violent crimes after having passed such legislations. People are highly more likely to advance simple cases of road rage; domestic violence, and others into gun-wielding shootouts because.. they simply can.

With the Supreme Court; lower courts, and the like all nearly packed with Pro-Trump and gun-nut enthusiasts — it is almost inevitable that the ban like NYC ‘s will be reversed.
