These major STI’s are making splashes all around the world

Sexually transmitted infections are nothing to play with. And in this list, uh, we’ve rounded up STI’s we’ve either flat out never heard of — or have been told that they’re on the rise again.

1. Neisseria meningitidis

This one has to do with animals, uh, particularly a 1970’s study. In that study, it related to an animal receiving fellatio. But in modern medicine, officials, have seen the disease on the rise since 2015.

Officials say new strains are sort of coinciding with that of its sister virus the clap.

Scientists say upwards of 5 to 10 percent of adults carry this virus.

2. Mycoplasma genitalium

Mycoplasma is one that we haven’t even heard of before. The last time this one was prevalent was in fact the 1980’s. Researchers say that in the past four years, they’ve seen a spike in this particular diagnosis due to the virus’s often aggressive resistant to antibiotics.

This particular virus is prevalent among 1 to 2 percent of people around the world. It is actually quite big among teens and young adults.

Fact: this virus can cause irritation of the urethra and cerfix in females. Women with this disease, without treatment, run the risk of miscarriage; stillbirth, birth defects, and sometimes the death of their child.

3. Shigella flexneri

This one sounded like an ingredient in a foreign dish. Researchers say this particular virus is not only deadly, but, it can cause your whole body to react in unheard of ways. Per researchers, this virus, has been on the rise since at least 2016.

With this virus, uh, severe stomach cramps are always present along with severe bouts of blood in ones stool. Officials at the New York City Department of Mental Health and Hygiene note that this particular virus is common among, you guessed it, young people.
