Make no mistake — if you haven’t been living under a rock you’ve probably heard of an interview by Rosalind Brewer this week. For those that don’t know, perhaps, Rosalind Brewer is actually the African American CEO of Sam’s Club.

Here’s what the brouhaha is about. In the CNN interview,  Brewer discussed a situation whereas she recently found herself sitting across from an “All white supplier” that left her feeling like there was no diversity on the other side of the table.

Social media is up in arms over the comments. But, Brewer is right. The “White Man” is dangerous, especially, in a corporate setting. So,  why is Brewer being called racist?

Brewer wasn’t exactly wrong in any way actually, nonetheless wrong for voicing her opinion.  In similar aspects, as the CEO of Daily News Online, I hold similar sentiments to “White Men” in any setting that has to do with business.

I remember quite a few times that I’ve been approached by “corporate white men” desiring to do business, but, on their terms in “all white groups”.  Now, keep in mind, I’ve kept my business primarily “black” and “of color”.  So working with an “all white group of men” is not something I would partake in, let alone, be caught dead admitting to.

By most accounts, the real enemies in this world both inside and out of the corporate world are white men.  So let us not call her racist, but, let’s call her a woman of her word: Diversity.
