Report: 2,000 children taken from parents in six weeks under Trump ‘s regime

New figures in a confidential report from the Department of Homeland Security paint a grim picture for children torn apart from their parents. According to the report, obtained by the  Associated Press, some 2k children have been separated from their parents in the six-weeks since the terrifying crackdown on immigration.

Per the report 1,995 minors were separated from 1,940 adults between 19 April and 31 May 2018.   The children cannot be charged with crimes, but their parents can. Therefore,  they are torn apart from the only families they have ever known in what was supposed to be a conquest for the freedom their families had never had.

The new crackdown is largely at the footsteps of  Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who, announced the new immigration policies in  April.  When they were announced, people, had already begun getting frightened over what it meant for life beyond the border.

Meanwhile,  a fresh battle is brewing in Congress over the fact that thousands of young children are being detained in a former Wal-Mart (that is now a detention facility)  until determinations can be made as to what to do with them.   As of May,   the Department of Homeland Security is referring all adult cases of illegal immigration for criminal prosecution.

“Our policies are discouraging people from making children endure that treacherous journey,” Sessions said. “Everything the ‘open borders lobby’ is doing is encouraging that and endangering these children.”
