Mini-Brief: Hidden amount Bill Cosby paid Andrea Costrand is revealed

PHILLY —    Big developments in the retrial against Bill Cosby. During yesterday’s opening day,  things, ehum, got a little hairy.

Let’s discuss.

Both sides of the spectrum reportedly (for the first time) revealed that Cosby paid upwards of $3.8m to Andrea Costrand in a private agreement and settlement (that Costrand reportedly agreed with) in 2006.  In 2006, the payment was made to ultimately settle Costrand’s emotional distress claim.    Yesterday, marked the first time anyone had ever been made aware of the payment.

Now, this is where it gets a little different.   According to legal experts,  both sides are expected to bring up the payment during today’s hearing, mostly, considering a judge has ruled that the payment and the compromising  discussion is fair game for the courtroom showdown.

Interestingly, District Attorney for Montgomery County Kevin Steele now argues that the payment allegedly suggests that Cosby was indeed covering for something (particularly of the bad nature).

Two Daily News reporters are in Philly for the trial, and,  will update this report when Day 2 comes to a close.
