A quintessential mother-figure in American politics, Mrs Bush, 92, passed away Tuesday night after a long battle with pulmonary heart failure and other related issued. Bush, 92, had decided earlier this year not to seek further treatment and live out the rest of her time comfortably surrounded by her family.
Only the 2nd woman in history to be both a First Lady to a sitting President, and, the mother of a sitting President, Bush held her place in history for more than 70 years. Married to former President George H.W Bush for 73 years, the two, were the longest married couple in American political history.
The official funeral has not yet been announced, and, is expected to draw thousands of people. The news was confirmed by the office of George H.W. Bush himself.
