Thanks in part to the Washington Post and its intriguing look into aviation inside North Korea. It’s no secret that North Korea doesn’t quite possess the things normal countries do, but one particular element missing, appears to be causing an issue for one very important day.
The North Korean-US summit set to take place in a classified location.
WaPo ‘s David Nakamura took a deep dive into. the country’s troubled aviation sector, which, only has a singular airline. And at that, ehum, a singular airline that only has two international destinations (obviously one of which is Russia). But as Nakamura points out, it, gets deeper from there. Kim, who recently acknowledged the summit between the North & the United States — may not have the proper plane to make such a long-haul flight.
Nakamura points out that, ehum, without the proper plane capable of a long-haul flight (Trump reportedly wants Singapore on the list of possible locations) he would have to use one of the following suggestions:
- Borrow a plane from China or Russia (but take an enormous risk that spy agencies would bug the plane).
- Hitch a ride on a South Korean flight
- Refuel along the way, which seems plausible, because nearly half of the world has active sanctions in force against Kim Jong Un.
The summit will still take place in late May per multiple reports and at least four different sources.
