Days after Craigslist notably decided to begin charging people for its service section (see here), the site, has announced another big section. After the U.S Congress passed FOSTA this week, the website quietly announced that it has entirely removed its “Personals” and “Rants and Rave” sections from its website. The FOSTA bill is meant to go after websites where people intentionally misuse features like a personals section, and, would result in the website being held criminally liable.
Any tool or service can be misused,” Craigslist noted in a short statement. “We can’t take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking … personals offline.”
It certainly hasn’t been a good week for Craigslist.
