Widow of Jo Cox resigns after his perverted behavior surfaces online

Looks like  the widow of Jo Cox has some explaining to do.    This week,  Brendan Cox announced that he would be stepping down from the charities he set up in his wife’s name, because,  his scandalous past  as someone who doesn’t respect women has surfaced online.

The Guardian was the first to confirm the shocking news, considering,   Brendan once stood for  women’s rights and the lives of such following Jo’s shocking murder after the Brexit referendum.    In a statement picked up across England, Cox, says that the  facts that have resurfaced “have made it difficult to focus on his position so I have chosen to resign effective immediately”.

Originally the allegations appeared in The Mail on Sunday, which, saw numerous women accuse Cox of plying them with alcohol before attempting to forcibly grope them.  Cox, denied the allegations intensively but then turned around and admitted to ” a few wrongdoings” while at Save the Children.

I want to apologise deeply and unreservedly for my past behaviour and for the hurt and offence that I have caused,” he said in the statement. “In the aftermath of Jo’s murder, I promised that I would dedicate my life to two things, firstly loving and protecting our children and secondly fighting the hatred that killed Jo.” reads a statement from Cox.

The backstory

According to police reports in Cambridge, MA  Cox was reported to local police in 2015 while on a trip to Harvard University.  The report notes that Cox “attempted to ply a woman with drinks, and then, forcibly attempted to grope her before sticking his thumb in her mouth in a sexual way”.  Cox, maintains even today, that the allegations aren’t exactly true.

“While I do not accept the allegations contained in the 2015 complaint to the police in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I do acknowledge and understand that during my time at Save the Children I made mistakes.”  reads the final part of the statement.

Per the police report, there were never any formal criminal proceedings brought against Cox that we were able to find.
