To more than 40 years in a mental hospital. According to a judge’s ruling handed down this week, the 15-year-old teenager who tried to stab and kill one of her classes (at the age of 12) will spend the next 40 years in a mental hospital. “It’s an issue of community protection” reads the judges ruling.
The judge reminded those who followed the case, including the jury, that “Without exception, regardless of age, this was an attempted murder” per the Associated Press. Geyser’s accomplice pleaded guilty last year, but claimed mental illness. She will also spend the next 25 years in a mental hospital .
