Thanks in part to a mission funded by the Discovery Channel and a group of Egyptian researchers, who, say they’ve discovered a tomb 16 feet underneath Egypt’s Tomb of the Monkey (also known as the Valley of Monkeys).
This is where it gets interesting. The discovery was apparently made near the Tomb of Ay, Tut’s wife Ankhesenamun, is believed to be buried in the tomb beneath the area. It took researchers, per Live Science, about a year to finally get permission to graze the area and hopefully make the shocking discovery.
Shortly after Tut’s death in 1323BC, his wife Ankhesenamun, married Ay. Interestingly, their marriage marks the last name they were ever seen in historical records.
