LOS ANGELES — Horrifying details of a case in California have caught our attention this morning.  California authorities  arrested  David Allen Turpin and Louise Turpin on charges of severe child endangerment and the entrapment of several adults (some of those imprisoned ranged from ages 2 to 29).

Here’s how it began.   Police say that Turpin and his wife claimed to police that “they were called by God” to keep having children, and,  to continue to imprison their children.  According to police, they first received an alert of the horrifying situation after one of the couple’s youngest daughters managed to break out of the house after nearly dying of starvation, and, managed to find someone with a cell phone.

The case in fact, perhaps, is one of the most horrifying in recent memory in California.     Police  upon arrival at the home, ehum, discovered more than a dozen children chained to beds; locked in bedrooms, and severely malnourished. To their surprise,  at first glance, they weren’t fully able to determine how old each one was — due to the fact that they looked sickly.

The Turpin’s are pictured with their massive gang of children.

Their parents, however, have an equally interesting story themselves. David Turpin, a  devout-Christian,  reportedly earned upwards of $140,000 a year   by working for a top defense contractor.   But, despite such,  the couple still owed upwards of $500,000 in debt according to collection filings obtained by The Daily News.

The couple,  per friends who spoke to the Daily News, “had deep seated religious beliefs that made them believe that this was okay”.  “They felt like having more children was a call from God rather than an indication to stop after so many”  one friend noted in e-mails to us.

Sandcastle Day School

Records for the couple’s Perris home in California show that David Turpin had apparently registered a day-school in a bid to  home-school his children.    The school never went off as it was apparently planned, but, in the 2015-2016 school year he did indeed have about 6 students registered (across various grades).
