NYPD opens special investigation into Russell Simmons

Over the mounting and alarming number of women that have now claimed rape at the hands of the former music executive. According to to the New York Daily News,   officials say that they’ve opened the case after at least two of the most recent women, appear, to be both credible and fall within the statute of limitations.

Under New York State Law,  the New York Police Department can open a case without a formal complaint made to them.  This, perhaps, is the case with Simmons who now faces more than half-a-dozen allegations over rape over the span of at least two decades.

Originally, all of the women told their stories to the New York Times & The Los Angeles Times. The four women who have made their names public, ehum, include: Drew Dixon, Toni Sallie, Tina Baker and Sherri Hines.
