Louisiana man arrested in infamous Nigerian scam

NIGERIA —  A man has finally been arrested in connection to probably one of the most infamous Nigerian scams ever.   If you’ve ever gotten one of those mysterious e-mails from a Nigerian Prince promising some sort of weird inheritance, you won’t get them any longer.

According to USA Today,  after an 18-month investigation Michael Neu, 67, was arrested by federal authorities.   Police say that Neu notoriously bilked people out of thousands of dollars, but instead of sending the inheritance to those promised, he would apparently wire the money to offshore accounts.

“Most people laugh at the thought of falling for such a fraud, but law enforcement officials report annual losses of millions of dollars to these schemes,” the Slidell Police Department states.
