Wealthy or poor, to #TakeaKnee, means to protest injustice

You’ve probably heard by now that the President of the United States is literally engaging in full-scale war with the NFL.   So much so, that, the Golden State Warriors have announced that they’re “pretty okay” with not actually going to The White House.   The apparent feud started after Stephen Curry chimed in on the #TakeaKnee movement.  A movement that Donald Trump is vehemently opposed to, but, can actually do nothing about it.

The comment that started it all, at least,  when Trump chimed in himself.  Players across the sports spectrum including those in MLB; the NFL, and more are protesting than ever before.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’” the president said at a rally for Republican senator Luther Strange earlier this week.  The statement has set off a firestorm of criticism, and, concerns that Trump is barely able to refrain from completely abusing his power as leader of the free world.

While “wealthy” people may not see or witness many of the injustices that “middle class” or poor people do, they, still have every right to protest just as much as anybody else.   This may seem shocking to Trump supporters, but, there are such things as constitutional rights.  And  here’s an even bigger shock to Trump supporters,  even those who aren’t white and easily self-imploded by anything  other than white nationalism have the right to express those rights.   Even if it means sitting or kneeling during the sacred national anthem.

We’re pretty sure Colin and anyone else who continues to take a knee, perhaps, has all the possible respect for America. However, like  everybody else,  they don’t have respect for those that commit injustices for whatever reason and then continue to get away with it.  But, in the eyes of Trump supporters, anything against their mantra and personal ideologies — is considered “Anti-American” and against the American “way”.

“The NFL ratings are down massively,” Trump said. “Now the No1 reason happens to be they like watching what’s happening … with yours truly. They like what’s happening. Because you know today if you hit too hard: 15 yards! Throw him out of the game!”

He added: “They’re ruining the game! That’s what they want to do. They want to hit. They want to hit! It is hurting the game.”

The President has attempted to encourage his supporters to leave the stadium in counter protest, against, uh, those that he refers to as “son of a bitches”.  The entire reason this movement is important, is, because of well that right there.

Earlier this year,  Trump notoriously called the white nationalists in Charlottesville “very fine people”, but, those who peacefully protest against the injustices against people in the USA are as printed above.   The NFL responded harshly in its own statement against the Donald.

“The NFL and our players are at our best when we help create a sense of unity in our country and our culture,” Goodell said. “Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.”
