Massive face off in St. Louis after acquittal in cop’s trial

ST LOUIS — There’s protests and face-off’s happening today in St. Louis, but, nobody was actually killed on this given day.  They’re actually in response to a previous death, and, once again,  the officer in the shooting of an African American individual has been acquitted on all charges.

Let’s rewind.

Anthony Lamar Smith, a 24-year-old African American man was shot dead by Jason Stockley in 2011.   At the time,  police attempted to charge him with first degree murder citing “absolute police violence” generally after they had received plenty of criticism online.   Fast forward 6 years later,   Stockley, has now seen all charges reversed and a judge has found him not guilty of first-degree murder in relation to the death of Smith.

Meanwhile, protests rocked St. Louis today as people argued foul.  In a large number of related cases, when the tables are reversed, the  African American is usually almost always heavily charged if not sentenced to death.  That, ehum, appears to be the basis for much of the anger over the reversal of the state of the trial.

It has emerged that police in heavily armed riot gear were present at the protests.    Police reportedly pepper sprayed two women, before, trying to push back large crowds with a bus.  City officials declined to speak to The Daily News when phoned for this story.
