The National Weather Service says that Hurricane Irma remains one of the most powerful hurricanes ever recorded. With a terrifying speed of 185 mph, it, is the strongest hurricane ever recorded off of the Atlantic. The islands of St Marteen;  Barbuda, and Antigua have all been struck.

US officials in Florida have ordered mass evacuations along the Florida coast from the Keys to the Palm Beach area beginning Wednesday evening. Evacuations are mandatory, and, people are being advised to gather necessary items like food; water, blankets,  and whatever they can.   Local stores including Wal-Mart are wiped out of water and basic supplies, we have confirmed that at least three Office Depots and Staples from Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach all still have water.

The hurricane remains at a Category 5, making it,  readily capable of striking the United States and causing catastrophic  damage.  Earlier this afternoon, we took to Instagram, to share a plethora of photos from the Caribbean.  These photos are equally heartbreaking, as, they are terrifying. Homes; businesses, cars,  rooftops, police stations and more are gone.

French authorities in French regional Caribbean islands have all ordered people inside.   French officials tell The Daily News that “We’ve warned people either to get out now, or stay inside”.    The National Weather Service has issued a warning as of 3:04 PM 6 September, they’re unclear about which direction this storm is headed once it hits Florida.  They now say that is has a very high potential to strike the Carolinas.

The state of Florida has now ordered mandatory evacuations from the Keys up into the West Palm Beach area. Miami-Dade County has now ordered mandatory evacuations. [UPDATE].

We’ve learned through the means of Fire Chat that  communications and cell phones have been knocked out through much of the island areas.
