When one thinks Wal-Mart one could usually chalk it up to misbehaved children and wild behavior, but, one probably doesn’t imagine that a trip to Wal-Mart would mark a horrifying discovery. According to police, 8 bodies were reportedly discovered in a tractor trailer in a Wal-Mart parking lot this week — marking the beginning to a terrifying homicide investigation.
San Antonio police confirmed to The Daily News that a sweltering tractor trailer was discovered yesterday that contained a shocking 39 people in total. Of those 39, nearly all of them were found with near deadly heat injuries so bad that “it looked like something out of a horror movie” according to witnesses who watched police pull bodies from the trailer. Police say that upon discovery of the trailer, at least 8 of the victims, were already dead. A 9th died reportedly on the way to the hospital.
Police say they think they’ve discovered an immigrant smuggling operation, that, uh, went pretty south. Authorities say that the victims were and appeared to be stuffed into the trailer “so that they appeared to not even be there” to begin with. Each of the victims minus “at least four” per police were of Mexican descent. The Daily News learned that the discovery occurred not even two hours from the Mexican-American border.
Hospital officials in the area confirmed to The Daily News in e-mails that at least 100 people were originally found in the tractor trailer. Meanwhile, officials over at the Mexican consulate confirmed the authenticty of the identity of the ethnicity of the victims citing that they were indeed Mexican. Per government officials, survivors are reportedly being interviewed.
