The Washington Post is out with a damning piece this evening indicating that Donald Trump traded (illegally) classified secrets with Russian officials last week during his meeting. According to The Post, Trump, during his meeting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak illegally discussed the controversial laptop and electronic ban that occurred earlier this year coming into America.
The Post discovered that the details were illegally shared with Russian officials specifically from an intelligence partner that previously declared the information not be shared as to directly why the ban on laptops and such from certain countries actually happened.
While the President has broad power to declassify information, it, still isn’t quite clear as to whether or not his actions were indeed illegal.
Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies,” according to one source. “It is all kind of shocking,” says another. “Trump seems to be very reckless and doesn’t grasp the gravity of the things he’s dealing with.”
