This Sunday,  Emmanuel Macron, will formally be inaugurated as the President of France.   Outgoing president Francois Hollande will formally hand over power at the Elysee Palace, something, Hollande “has been looking forward to” according to reports.

World leaders far-and-wide have been sending congratulations all week. To no surprise,  Prime Minister Theresa May was among the first to congratulate Macron on his win.

“The Prime Minister warmly congratulates President-elect Macron on his election success.” the Prime Minister reportedly said outside of 10 Downing Street.

How the United States responded to Macron ‘s sweeping election win (by a landslide).

Congratulations to Emmanuel Macron on his big win today as the next President of France. I look very much forward to working with him!” US leader Donald Trump reportedly posted to Twitter.

Meanwhile over in Russia…. the Kremlin wasn’t that thrilled.

“The growth in threats of terrorism and militant extremism is accompanied by an escalation of local conflicts and the destabilisation of whole regions. In these conditions it is especially important to overcome mutual mistrust and unite efforts to ensure international stability and security.”
