Over an apparent lie printed in Women’s Wear Daily. According to the original report, Lagerfield claimed to the publication that Streep had changed her mind about wearing a legendary Chanel gown to the Oscars.
The issue? Streep apparently never exactly confirmed that she was going to indeed entirely wear Chanel, but, Chanel had always been a top contender. Streep claimed in a statement that Karl “boldly lied and the magazines printed it eclipsing my appearance at the Oscars ceremony”.
Meanwhile, Chanel has issued their own statement apologizing to Streep in a more meaningful way. Lagerfield? Generic apology? Check.
