Beyonce is apparently a top contender for President of the United States in 2020. According to one op-ed columnist, that idea isn’t so far fetched after Donald Trump ‘s victory in 2016. “They need her” Jeet Heer proclaims in a case for the Democratic celebrity candidate.
Heer, examined the level of power in which Beyonce already wields. Similar to that of Donald Trump, Beyonce could essentially run a great campaign although depending largely on who she would be running against. Republicans in the states have long used celebrity to their advantage (think Arnold; Reagan, and several others) but for whatever reason Democrats have subsided against such a move.
