Or at least was briefly after Britain fell victim to a weird hoax on social media. A fake Twitter account posing as the BBC popped up this week claiming that after 10 days out of the public eye, that, the Queen had passed away. Queen Elizabeth has been out of the public eye since suffering a cold during the Christmas holiday and remains resting at her Sandringham Palace estate.
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace is fuming at the fake news alert and “remains dignified in the event that the Queen does actually succumb” to an illness.
