Some have hoped for such a move for years. But now, it appears to be reality. According to reports by The Washington Post, Deputy AG Sally Yates has announced in a memo that the Department of Justice and the like is to not renew their contracts with two of America’s biggest private prisons.
The memo detailed apparent plans by Yates and the Department of Justicd to eventually phase out private prisons entirely as they have been found to not be as safe as thought and aren’t as cost effective. The move, as expected, has generated much buzz as to what will happen with the future of correctional centers in America.
