FACEBOOKA new New York Times editorial poses an interesting question: Is it time to start worrying about the social power and influence of Facebook? That’s what one editorial writer poses in the Times out Thursday arguing that “Facebook essentially has the power to shape the events that occur in our world”..

Which could be a danger to some.  In 2010, an interesting study was published revealing how Facebook was able to simply get people to vote only by merely showing them their friends had.

“Many mainstream outlets have a rigorous set of rules and norms about what’s acceptable and what’s not in the news business,” Farhad Manjoo writes in the Times editorial. The scary thing about Facebook? Neither its users nor the company itself actually identify the company as a media organization —  despite Facebook generally having triple the influence of a major newspaper.
