California approves bill that raises legal smoking age to 21

BROWN11LOS ANGELES — Big news for smokers in California, news, that is likely to upset most people.  According to Gov.  Jerry Brown, a new bill has been signed into law effective 9 June that criminalizes the sell of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21.

California is now the second state in the United States to create such a law. Recent studies and reports indicate that most new smokers who develop habits in their early and late 20’s ended up smoking well before the age of 19.   Opponents of the bill are expected to challenge the bill come November, when, it may become able to be removed from law if enough signatures are  gathered with the votes.
