LONDON — In a much discussed move, The Daily News, is one of two English/Welsh newspapers in all of Europe to forgo a court order demanding that British newspapers not publish the names of Elton John and David Furnish in the reported “Celebrity Threesome” scandal currently blacked out from British media.
A creative American reader tipped off The Daily News late yesterday morning, after, we received a photograph of what we deemed to appear to be accurate based on context clues and adding pieces of the puzzle together from documents obtained related to the story.
In America, The National Enquirer is the first and one of the only American newspapers to print the names of the stars involved (being John and his husband). While The Enquirer hasn’t been trustworthy in the past, it, appears that they’ve hit the nail on the head with this one as their cover adds up to British court documents obtained by The Daily News.
Here’s what we know:
- The celebrity had a threesome with another couple
- The sexual relationship came to an end but the three remain friends
- The couple approached a newspaper offering to sell their story
- The High Court turned down a privacy application from the celebrity because his infidelity contradicted a public portrayal of married commitment
- But Appeal Court judges had a different opinion
- They said the couple had an open relationship and his spouse accepted he had sexual encounters from time to time
- Crucially they added that the story would generate a media storm, public interest in the family and press attention directed at the children
- This would be devastating for the claimant and the needs for privacy were stronger then the right to publish
- English and Welsh media were banned from publishing the story
