10 Reasons Why You Should and Should Not Vote For Hillary Clinton in 2016

Hillary ClintonIt’s now 2016, and President Obama is in his last year in office. That means someone else gets to sit in the big chair and make all the decisions. In order for that to happen, someone else must be elected. While the Republican party seems to be out of sync as far as their next pick for  presidential candidate, the Democratic party has a clear leader, Hillary Rodham Clinton. In the last Presidential Democratic race, Hillary Clinton was leading by a big margin before she was eventually taken over by current President, Barack Obama.

It seems as if history, at least in part, is repeating itself as Hillary Clinton has a firm lead on the Democratic nomination for President. For those who are unsure as to whether or not you should or shouldn’t vote for Hillary in the upcoming 2016 Presidential race, here are 10 reasons why you should and should not vote for Hillary this year.

1. Should – She comes well qualified. She graduated with honors from Yale Law School. She also worked on the Presidential campaigns of George McGovern (1972), Barry Goldwater (1964), and Jimmy Carter (1976). She chaired the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee during Bill Clinton’s appointment as Governor. She co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Family. She was named one of the 100 most influential and powerful lawyers in America by the National Law Journal in 1988 & 1991. She was First Lady for 8 years, Senator of New York, and Secretary of State.

Should Not – Some say she’s a bad role model. The Gennifer Flowers and Monica Lewinsky scandal, left many people wondering why Hillary would stay with Bill Clinton. Those scandals also left many people, especially women, feeling that her choice to stay with then President Bill Clinton made women look weak.

2. Should – Her stance on certain issues. The most important reason to vote for someone is, do they believe in what you believe in. She is pro equal rights for LGBT Americans. She understands and wants to fix economic inequality. She is against using “religious freedom” as a reason for cutting access to healthcare discrimination. She supports gun control. She is Pro-Choice. She wants to improve the criminal justice system. She wants to improve Citizens United. She supports the American worker.

Should Not – Foreign policy stance. There are those who believe that as Secretary of State, Mrs. Clinton is one of President Obama’s most ‘hawkish’ individuals. The conclusion comes from her pushing for troops in 2009 to surge in Afghanistan and U.S. involvement in Libya. She has also vocally supported the very same drone war that led to the deaths of more than 2,300 civilians. She told Atlantic Columnist Jeffrey Goldberg in an interview her views on Iranian nuclear enrichment which, some believe opens the doors for military action.

3. Should – She has championed some great causes. One of Hillary Clinton’s best achievements is the GHI or the Global Health Initiative. Introduced in 2010, the Global Health Initiative was designed to put real focus on infant and maternal health. The GHI puts into practice strategies that help improve medical facilities, lower the spread of HIV and lower the death rates of infants. Hillary has also brought light to the fact that human rights and women’s rights are one in the same. She has fought hard to bring woman’s issues like equal pay, women’s health and domestic violence out in the open.

Clinton-Sexism-AgeismShould Not – Stance on civil liberties. The Obama administration has been criticized for their stance on the NSA spying on Americans due to the Patriot Act. Hillary Clinton voted, in the Senate, to reauthorize the Patriot Act as well as voting for it initially. In April of 2014 at the University of Connecticut, she defended NSA surveillance and was very hard on whistle-blower Edward Snowden, saying he was a terrorist supporter.

4. Should – The First Gentleman would be Bill Clinton. Love him or hate him, no one can deny that Bill Clinton was, perhaps, the most charismatic president in this countries history. Together, they are the ultimate power couple. They are real political players. They have been playing this political game since college. They feed well off of each other. The First Spouse is expected to serve as the face of the President, and take a very active role social activism, and provide significant advice to the President. Who better to fulfill this than Bill Clinton.

Should Not – Serving the interest of Big Business. Hillary Clinton has a history of being willing to side with the interests of big corporations. In 1976 she served as legal counsel for the Rose Law Firm, where she represented a number of Arkansas utilities companies that sued the state. The reason for the law suit was a ballot that was passed that lowered utility rates for Little Rock residents, while increasing it for businesses. She has been known to have ties to some of the same economic companies whose financial decisions help to cause the 2008 economic collapse. JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley have been Hillary’s top financial political supporters.

5. Should – She learns from her mistakes. Hillary Clinton learned a crucial lesson from her 2008 campaign. She realized who her friends really were and who she could count on. Barack Obama came out of nowhere and won the Democratic parties vote. The votes she thought she had, disappeared. The lesson learned? Don’t assume anything as you move up the Presidential ladder. This is something she will take into the 2016 race. She will make new alliances and terminate old ones in order to win.

Should Not – The Benghazi incident. Many people have criticized President Barack Obama and Hillary for the assault on Libya. They blame Hillary for not providing better protection for the outpost which cost the lives of four Americans. When she was questioned about it she was quoted as saying, “What difference, at this point, does it make?” She was also missing in action at 3am when a phone call from Benghazi came in. She reportedly erased her email server clean and didn’t respond to a Benghazi subpoena.

6. Should – The Electoral College is in Hillary’s favor. Back in 2012 the Electoral College results were 206 for Romney and 332 for Obama. This suggest that even if Romney won in Florida (29 votes) Virginia (13 votes), and Ohio (18 votes), Obama would have still won albeit by a closer margin of 272 to 266. Due to demographic growth and voting patterns, it is much easier for any democratic candidate to get to that crucial number of 270 electoral votes.

Should Not – Hillary is too old. Hillary will be 69 before election day rolls around. Being too old is a strategy many opponents said the Democrats used against John McCain and Ronald Reagan in their various campaigns. Various non-partisan commentators have cited concerns about Clinton’s advanced age, saying that if she decided not to run, age would probably be the reason.

7. Should – Hillary Clinton is a smart politician. Looking at Mrs. Clinton singularly shows she is ready and quite capable of stepping into the big chair. She brings wisdom, skill, Hillarypreparedness, and lots of experience to the table. She has spent over a decade in the White House, learning the ins and outs. She has paid her dues in the political arena. She has risen above adversity and the scrutiny of the public as well as the Republican party. She knows how to turn negatives into positives. This is key for anyone wanting to be President.

Should Not – She lacks Bill Clinton’s empathy and charm. Hillary Clinton is known by many to be cold and ruthless. She doesn’t have the smooth charisma that her husband possesses. A President needs to have charm and empathy to bring sides together. This could be a problem when dealing with the Republican party, much less world leaders.

8. Should – The Democrats have the Hispanic, Asian, and African-American votes. Let’s face it, the Republican party was rocked in 2012 when Mitt Romney lost the Hispanic vote by the wide margin of 71 percent to 27 percent. The Republicans were again shocked to the core when they saw how wide a margin Obama won the African-American vote. That margin was 93 percent to 6 percent. Also, the Asian-Americans gave President Barack Obama 73 percent of their votes. The heavy lifting is already done, all Hillary Clinton has to do is reap the rewards.

Should Not – She didn’t pass any significant bills as Senator. Lawmakers pass bills, it’s part of what they do. Especially lawmakers that want to be President. During her tenure as New York State Senator, Hillary Clinton didn’t have one piece of landmark legislation to her credit. Nothing that shows she knows how to conceive, formulate, and get a bill passed in the Senate, Congress, or White House.

9. Should – She is ruthless. The very same reason why someone might be against Hillary, is the very same reason why someone might be for Hillary. Being ruthless for a woman is usually a negative thing. However, it shows that she can keep up with the big dogs. Politics is not for the timid and weak of heart. You need a strong stomach and Hillary certainly has that.

Should Not – Her record on China was and is ineffectual and weak. One of Hillary Clinton’s big mistakes was being fooled by a small-time man named Johnny Chung. According to Forbes.com, this ‘Mr. Fixit’ admitted that some of the large sums of money that he put in to Democratic coffers originated from the People’s Liberation Army. Hillary Clinton was recorded as being in no less than 10 pictures in Chung’s promotional material.

10. Should – She will fight for the middle class. Hillary Clinton grew up middle class. She witnessed the rewards and failures of her own parents hard work. She was taught that the way to success is through hard work and education. She knows what it is to struggle. She will bring this knowledge to the White House to help the poor and middle class to succeed.

Should Not – She has a lot of scandal baggage. Hillary Clinton has scandals going back to the 1990’s. Scandals that include opening up 900 confidential FBI files of political opponents, deleting her emails in the Benghazi case, being under investigation for using her personal email account to destroy classified information, allegedly accepting millions in illegal funds for her charity from foreign groups that harbor terrorist, execute gays and lesbians, and suppress women. and the list goes on.

With this information at your disposal, you now have what you need to make an informed decision. So are you for, or not for Hillary Clinton? That is the question.
