News Brief: London cracking down on illicit money laundering

LONDON — Ever heard of a UWO? Good, neither have we until about 10 minutes ago.   In January, British authorities launched Unexplained Wealth Orders (which in laments terms, allows the government to know where money came from if a property is worth more than 50,000 GBP).

This is where it gets interesting. According to prosecutors, two particular buildings in southeast England and  London are in the sights of officials after they have determined the buildings to likely be owned by overseas governments.   Officials wouldn’t quite  reiterate what they meant by that, but, did reveal that information gathered by officials indicates that both buildings may be owned by Western officials.

Both buildings are worth an estimated 22m GBP.
