Billionaires and the private sector are about to take over the ISS

According to a NASA document obtained by the Washington Post, NASA, is apparently floating the idea of being sold to the private sector (like, entirely taken over here guys).   The document apparently fills in much of the detail we didn’t know before, when, rumors first surfaced that the United States will stop funding the ISS by 2025.

NASA, ehum, has downplayed rumors that the ISS will be no more — but people are concerned about the ISS becoming a “floating real estate hub”.

“The decision to end direct federal support for the ISS in 2025 does not imply that the platform itself will be deorbited at that time—it is possible that industry could continue to operate certain elements or capabilities of the ISS as part of a future commercial platform,” per the document. “NASA will expand international and commercial partnerships over the next seven years in order to ensure continued human access to and presence in low Earth orbit.”
