Or sell it for that matter. Days after Sri Lanka lifted a 38-year-old ban on women buying and or selling alcohol, the President, has reinstated that very same ban. The ban first appeared 38-years-ago ultimately restricting women from ever working in a place that sells/buys alcoholic beverages — or basically outright consuming them themselves.
The President, per the BBC, apparently doesn’t want women to consume alcohol “because it will destroy the very fabric of Sri Lanken family units”.
The BBC notes that the President claims that he only learned that the Sri Lankan government lifted the ban by reading the newspapers, instead of you know, actually taking part in any meaningful legislation in the very country in which he runs.
