The U.S has renewed its power to collect your cell phone records

WASHINGTON — The United States is deeply after your phone records, so much so, that the House has confirmed that in a wide-margin vote that surveillance powers of foreign targets have been renewed. According to the House, this means, that if and when American citizens are caught up in the whole ordeal — they will also see their communications and cell phone histories seized by American authorities at the National Security Agency.

Although, it is worth noting that Donald Trump apparently didn’t want the vote go through even though the bill had widely been supported by The White House.  The legislation was staunchly opposed by privacy advocates, who, argued that collecting any information on Americans is a constitutional violation of their rights — especially if they haven’t been directly accused of a crime.

Now the legislation moves on to the Senate, who, is expected to pass it fully in a 702 renewal by 19 January — the same day the original bill would have expired.
