Tomb of Jesus Christ reportedly discovered by scientists: Reports

A Greek priest stands over what is believed to be the Tomb of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, Israel.

JERUSALEM —   There’s an interesting new  find in Israel, and, this one is sure to drive discussion. According to National Geographic,   scientists now believe that they have found the Tomb of Jesus Christ.

Let’s discuss.

In AD 345, (in modern day it is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre)  Constantine the Great is believed to have traveled to  Jerusalem in search of practically anything to do with Jesus Christ.   At the time,  he ended up finding what has now become the church and what would become of a reported tomb inside of the church. That tomb, although no formal remains have been found to indicate Jesus was ever inside of it,  is in fact from AD 345.

Scientists, per National Geographic, have ran several tests over recent weeks to determine if they could possibly find what time period the tomb is from.    The tomb,  contains several marble slabs and enshrining objects, indicating that Constantine The Great may have gone to great lengths to shield the tomb  for whatever reason. Lending small credence to the claim that Jesus is in fact buried inside of the Sepulchre.

The church itself was formally destroyed in 1009, and, wouldn’t be opened to the public for any reason until centuries later.  Israel opened the church for the first time in October 2016,  to a general public, that largely has always believed that Jesus is inside.

“While it is archaeologically impossible to say that the tomb is the burial site of an individual Jew known as Jesus of Nazareth … [the] results put the original construction of today’s tomb complex securely in the time of Constantine.”   via National Geographic
