Three women go blind after scam stem cell surgery

If it sounds to  good to be true, perhaps,  it is.  In the case of usually life saving stem cell transplants,  one may wonder how exactly this happened.

Three elderly women in Florida are blind indefinitely this week after a for-profit clinic reportedly performed an almost unheard of procedure on the women.  The women, uh, apparently suffered from macular degeneration and were convinced that stem cell transplants in their eyes were the answer.

So, what happened? According to the New England Journal of Medicine, the women had copious amounts of fat cells from other parts of their body put closer into the area in which their eyes sit.

Doctors are now warning: if it sounds too good it probably is.
