Electoral College Voter: Trump camp tried to influence Electoral College members

Amid news that several electoral college voters are preparing to turn against Donald Trump on 19 December, The Daily News was contacted by two who witnessed apparent bribery attempts with gifts and the like by Trump’s campaign.

The two electors who we have agreed not to identify because Trump supporters are sending death threats to anyone who vows against Trump, spoke openly and candidly of how they encountered Trump’s camp.

As most know, ultimately it is the electors that decide who wins their way to the White House. The first elector, identified only as John, told The Daily News of one particular situation of attempted bribery by the Trump campaign.

“I was offered numerous free stays at any Trump hotel in the continental United States of my choice if I promised to keep my electoral vote geared towards Trump.  This was in the midst of the many sexual abuse allegations that surfaced during the general election.”

He went on to say…

“I’m not the only one.  There were other men and women who were also offered various forms of Trump related gifts if they swore to their electoral vote.  This is one of the reasons so many have now declared that they fully intend to turn against Donald on 19 December”.

The reference he makes here is 19 December. The same day the Electoral College is scheduled to convene and formally declare their votes.  If Donald Tump happens to lose Michigan, and the correct number of electoral members indeed do sway — Donald Trump’s hopes for the White House are in jeopardy.

The second Electoral College voter declared similar sentiments…

“I was offered a private dinner with any member of the Trump family of my choice.  It became apparent that they were trying to bribe after the hotel offer didn’t work, so they went with private dinner reservations in New York City..”

In the midst of the publication of this report, we have learned that numerous identified Electoral College voters have vowed to abstain from voting from Trump — something that hasn’t occurred since James Madison ran for president.

One of the electors, Michael Baca,  released a statement to the New York Daily News.

The Founding Fathers created the Electoral College as the last line of defense, and I think we must do all that we can to ensure that we have a Reasonable Republican candidate who shares our American values,” he said.

His statement strongly indicates that he intends to rescind his vote for Donald Trump, lending credence to several others who have vowed other promises.
