img_1429SAUDI ARABIA — In one of the worlds strictest kingdoms, women, are more often than goes noticed treated like second class citizens.  How so? In Saudi Arabia, it is required under Islamic and Kingdom law that women receive permission from a male guardian for just about anything.

Yes, that means getting a job; health care, the very basic stuff women in other parts of the world are accustomed to.  Now, according to reports out of the Kingdom — women are gunning to change that.

Some 14k women have reportedly signed a petition ordering the government to remove male guardianship from the lives of Saudi women, something that has been hailed as unprecedented and historic in a country where women have usually kept quiet.

No official word yet from the government as to whether or not the petition will be heard.
