And in what appears to be a case of a no good trigger happy police officer. An Oklahoma police officer and the preceding police unit are in national headlines this evening after it emerged that a white officer, er, had decided to shoot dead an African American man who had car trouble on the side of a street.
Oklahoma police say that the man had “posed an imminent” threat but no video footage verifying such has since emerged following the shooting. Initial reports and video show that the man had car trouble and his vehicle was reportedly stalled on the side of the road, whereas, the officer in question later approached his vehicle ordering him to get out of the car.
He, was later stunned with a stun gun before being shot to death as the officer continued to approach his car. The officer can be heard on video saying “He looks like a bad dude” “He’s probably on something” “It’s time for a taser”. The Daily News has confirmed that that officer has been identified as Oklahoma police officer Betty Shelby. The ACLU; Terence Crutcher’s family, and thousands of protesters are calling for criminal charges.
