The forgetful and often dumb fish Dory, has, at last, proven to be box office gold. According to Com Score estimates, the animated flick brought in a cool $136.2million during its North American theatrical debut starting Friday. The latest sequel in the animated franchise is now the record holder for the biggest opening, previously, held by 2007’s Shrek which raked in $121.5m.
“The film simply obliterated expectations, and in true Pixar fashion, delivered a perfect family movie-going experience that proved irresistible to all audiences,” said an analyst, per CNN .“Finding Nemo was beloved by audiences in theaters and for over a decade on home video, culminating in Dory’s performance that was 13 years in the making.”
