The New York Times has gotten its hands on an interesting trove of information. In a new editorial published to its front-page,  the paper, revealed new details in Prince Roger Nelson’s secret drug addiction — so secret — that nobody even in his closest crew knew of the problem.

The New York Times alleges in its report that Prince had “secretly become addicted” to the painkillers he had been prescribed by his doctor “and never told anyone”. “He was so private that he would often make his own appointments, and, drive himself around” essentially making it much easier for the singer to have kept the addiction a secret.

“He was that kind of old school, the-show-must-go-on guy, so the idea of him medicating himself in order to perform isn’t strange to me,” his former tour manager tells the Times.
