During her lifetime — she reigned as the world’s greatest female screen legend of all time. Appearing in more than a dozen films, Katharine Hepburn emphasized what it meant to be a headstrong independent woman [something that wasn’t exactly normal in the 20th century]. Hepburn, who appeared in films like The African Queen successfully managed to exhume true talent on and off screen as a number of different iconoclastic characters.
