Daily News investigates: Who is Edward Snowden?

Snowden11He’s a high school dropout — that managed to weasel his way into having access to some of the U.S’s most secretive computer systems; and somehow came out leaking documents that some have known about for years (while others haven’t). Enter: Edward Snowden.

Snowden,  who is currently living with a target above his head thanks to the U.S’s Federal Bureau of Investigation’s may never live in the ‘Land of the Free’ again. Earlier this week, several Republican lawmakers demanded that he be extradited to the United States to face the full extent of the law for leaking classified information via a thumb drive he stole from the Central Intelligence Agency.

Snowden fled the United States approximately three weeks ago (20 May) after the leak went global following an interview in the Guardian newspaper (American version).

I’m just another guy who sits there day to day in the office, watching what’s happening, and goes, ‘This is something that’s not our place to decide.’ The public needs to decide whether these programs or policies are right or wrong,” he said. Edward Snowden during Guardian newspaper interview.

Daily News, upon investigation discovered that before the massive NSA debacle — Snowden had been living in Hawaii for nearly 10 years with his girlfriend where he worked for Booz Allen Hamilton (aka the government). During employment in Hawaii,  Snowden was raking in a cool $200,000 salary.

In 2003, he was discharged from the United States military after breaking both legs. [Honorably, of course].
